PINE BLUFF, Ark. — On this date in 2006, SIU went on the road and beat Arkansas-Pine Bluff, 48-16, a week after upsetting Indiana.

Arkee Whitlock rushed for 140 yards and a touchdown, and No. 10 Southern Illinois overcame an early, 10-7 deficit by scoring 27 unanswered points, recovering two fumbles and shutting out UAPB over the last 25:43 of the game.

"We came into a different environment and got out of our routine a bit," said Saluki head coach Jerry Kill. "I was happy with the way our young team adapted and that we're coming back to Carbondale at 3-0."
