CARBONDALE, Ill. — In Part 5 of our video series with Saluki Football head coach Nick Hill, he explains how his faith strengthens him to serve others.
Part 5 Video Transcript
"I think first it starts with my relationship with Christ. For me to be the best coach, it's got to be in that order. It's got to be my relationship with God, my wife, my kids, and then football. It's not about me. It's about serving all of those. I think that's what we were called to do, to serve.
We have three young girls. You quickly realize when you get at home, you're not a big deal. They keep you grounded. Like life happens. You got to create a schedule that makes them know that they're still the most important.
I think that it'st all-encompassing when you come to this program. Everybody is welcomed with open arms. We've had people from all different walks of life that I believe have come here and had a great experience regardless of their religion or where they're from or what they look like. It doesn't matter.
And I believe that's what we're called to do as Christians. If I want to call myself a Christian, it's to love your neighbor as yourself. It's to serve those people. It doesn't say if they..., and you get a bunch of things next to that. It doesn't say serve your neighbor or love your neighbor as yourself, (only) if they do this. It's everybody."
