Part 6 Video Transcript

"Southern Illinois, you know, I love it. I always say it's the garden spot of the world. Just the pace of life is what I enjoy the most.

All the things that you can do here really meet what I enjoy in life, the hobbies that I have, you know, the outdoors, fishing, hunting. Southern Illinois is the garden spot, but really, Du Quoin (laughs).

(People) might know who I am, or see me on TV, or 'you're the coach,' but 10 seconds later, it's just you're talking to them like a normal person. I'm just one of them.

Treat people kindly, with respect. Humbly go about your business and your day. Then people want to support you.

You know, everybody wants to be happy, but that's kind of a tough thing. You can be happy and mad here within the same 30 minutes. Happiness is going to go up and down. We talk about joy. It says in the Bible, you can be sorrowful and mourning and still joyful at the same time.

It's really about finding a peace and a joy in your everyday life. And I think this game really challenges you to do that. Like, man, this circumstance doesn't really make me that happy. Can I still come to the building and have a joy about myself that my teammates, I can also share in their success? That's tough for young guys to do. It's tough for coaches to do.

Like you're happy for the other guy. The other person gets to play and he had the best game. Have that as your core belief. You can have that happiness for other people and you can serve other people and know that one day it will be your time. Or when that timing is right, that there's a higher calling that your life can keep going and you can have joy in it."
